Frequently Asked Question’s

Q: Do you have annual or semi-annual conferences for Technology Coordinators or participating schools?

A: No we do not. Towards the end of each school year, me may have a videoconference of up to eight of our presenters with as many schools connected as possible. This will be for the purpose of letting you see, and talk to, the best presenters in their respective areas.

We believe that technology, and its use, should be left up to the Directors of Distance Learning. We have presenters that are very knowledgeable in their field and, at times may require the use of PowerPoint, Streaming Video, Slides and Charts. It will make it more conducive to the students learning if the technical coordinator could make a seamless transition between the presenter and these different tools.

Q: How much do you charge for an Historical Personality to videoconference with one, two or three classes in my school district?

A: It would take too much space here to explain that.  Please click on this "Pricing" link to take you to a page dedicated to our fees and terms.

Q: Do you offer Membership to Virent, which will allow me guarantees to specific dates and presenters? If so, what is the Membership Fee?

A: We do not have a "Membership" or "Membership fees" at this time. Even though Virent is a Not for Profit business, we believe that you should have to pay ONLY for the presenters and not be obligated to take presenters you do not want. If however you want to contract a certain number of presenters for a certain number of presentations to your schools to ensure that you will get what you want, we can do that.

Q: Do you offer streaming video for use in the teacher’s lesson plans?

A: Not at this time. However, in the future we hope to have a data bank of each presenter’s copy written presentation, which will be selectable from a directory much as movie CD’s are today. There may be a nominal charge for the use of this data bank.

Q: Do you aid or assist in the purchasing of hardware, software or installation of videoconferencing equipment?

A: No, we do not. We feel that this is best left up to the Technology Directors, Consortium Liaisons and individual ESD’s.

Q: What is the cost to connect to your "Bridge"?

A: There are no fees charged by us to connect to our Bridge, as long as you dial into it. You will, of course be charged line charges by your telecom provider. Virent does not absorb nor do we pay those charges. Also, we do not pay or absorb the Bridging and line charges to dial out to your site(s). Those fees are your responsibility.
